Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Yep, crater. I heard there was a knife shop that makes knives made of meteorite iron near there. If you into that sort of thing.

  3. Darn, y’all beat me to it. I stopped at that meteor crater once on a trip through the southwest. It was less impressive than I thought it would be, but it was worth stopping and taking a look.

  5. Just for the record, that was my boy who had been looking over my shoulder and wanted to comment!
He meant that the crater was big, but the pic came up gigantic too so we could zoom in on it. I’m really enjoying the audio blogging you’re doing too, though it always begins incredibly loudly!
    God Bless.

  6. Man, we pass by that thing every time we visit Pheonix from Albuquerque. I’ve always wanted to visit it.
Any of those who have been there, how far off I-40 is it?

  7. “I think I’m gonna have to start photochopping Jimmy’s boot into all kinds of photos…”
Definitely, Brad! Maybe it’ll get really big like those guys who took that gnome all around the world & then it got stolen for a commercial! Except . . . you’ll get money! 😉
Seriously, I can picture it now: Jimmy’s boot from the top of the Chrysler Building, Jimmy’s boot from the moon, Jimmy’s boot from the Crab Nebulea!
    Imagine the possibilities!

Just wait. I have more photos from Meteor Crater (and elsewhere) that are even more ace.

‘Bout 15 or 20 minutes. Worth the diversion.

It’s LESS time than that! (If you drive the day I do.) It’s only 6 miles off I-40. Unless you take these remarkably slowly, it’s less than 15-20 minutes.

    I’m imagining them. . . .
