Author: Jimmy Akin
Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona?
Such a fine sight to see…
Give my regards to Tucson.
It doesn’t look much like a corner, so how about a bus stop? Jimmy, got your umbrella?
I know what you are, you’re a man on the edge!
…and please reassure me that you have two legs…
God Bless.
Doh! Someone already got the Eagles allusion.
‘Course, he could just be showing off a new boot.
Yeah, Eagles was the first thing in my mind, too.
Didja all know that there’s a bronze statue – life-sized, o’ course – of a guy with a gee-tawr strapped to his back at that particular intersection? And, to make it even better, there’s a mural on a building there of a girl . . . in a flat-bed Ford checkin’ that bronze fella out.
Pretty cool.
I like the shots with the pointy-toed cowboy boots. I like “pretending” that Jimmy’s actually wearing 4-inch black stilettos! LOL!
I KNOW the way cowboy boots work, that your toes are not actually all jammed in those pointy boot toes, but it still looks painful…

…and please reassure me that you have two legs…
I do. However, I find it easier to balance on one foot behind me while leaning forward to take a picture of the other. Since I’m left-footed (yes, there is such a thing as footedness!), I tend to balance on the left while taking a picture of the right.
‘Course, he could just be showing off a new boot.
As if! These boots are on their last legs (no pun intended). I’ve already had them resoled and I’ve had the sides patched and on this trip the patches on the sides finally gave way in an irreparable fashion (you can see that in the picture if you look closely at the spot where my little toe would be), so I’ll have to get some new boots, pronto!
