New Seminarian Document Expected Soon

Remember that document I was telling you about that is expected to affirm that those with a homosexual orientation are not to be ordained to the priesthood?

CNA is reporting:

The chairman of the U.S. bishops’ committee on priestly formation, Bishop John Nienstedt, said the Congregation told him that he could expect the guidelines soon.

This document  is about to be issued as Vatican officials are expected to begin their visit of the 229 seminaries, theology schools and institutes in the United States this month [SOURCE].

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. I honestly don’t expect much from this document. If it even says anything clear, it will hedge and qualify it so much as to be worthless. Or if, by some miracle, the document is unambiguous and not full of loopholes, it will just force the problem deeper underground.
For there to be real change, there must needs be a change of heart amongst Bishops in the U.S. on this subject – a Vatican document that tries to force a solution will get lip service in the U.S., if not be ignored altogether.
Perhaps I’m just a bit cynical about the U.S. hierarchy, but, heck, I’ve got two pastors who are still defying Humanae Vitae in their pastoring, not to mention a few other unambiguous teachings.
