What A Surprise

BOSTON GLOBE WRITER FABRICATES STORY.

But it was in such a good cause!

The story she fabricated was about baby seals being clubbed to death! Couldn’t let an absence of facts get in the way of a story like that! People needed to be emotionally manipulated by her making up details of a seal hunt that hadn’t happened!

(CHT to the reader who e-mailed!)

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. MSM keeps digging its own grave.
The seal hunt provides valuable work and income to people in economically depressed areas, often to disadvantaged native communities.
The damage done to these people’s livelihood by self-righteous latte sipping liberal elites trying to impose their religion on everybody else is incalculable.

  2. I receive the Boston Globe daily on my front porch…
I can’t express how much I loathe it.
There’s not much of an alternative, though, except for the trashy Boston Herald.

  3. The real irony, though, is that there was an op-ed in the Boston Herald (the day before this article was exposed as a fraud) by a member of the Scripps-Howard News Service about how much more trustworthy the MSM is than the blogsphere.
