Red vs. Blue

RED HAS MORE KIDS.

Turns out that if you harbor abortion, contraception, and an an anti-child mentality, you have fewer kids than those who reject abortion, contraception, and have a pro-child mentality.

The future’s lookin’ rosy.

(Not to say there won’t be bumps in the road or things that could upset matters.)

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Of course, there’s a bit of chicken-and-egg conundrum here: is holding conservative political and religious beliefs a CAUSE of having larger families, or is having larger families the CAUSE of a more conservative outlook on life? Could go either way, methinks.

  2. That’s why the Blues need to convince immigrants that Reds are rich racists who hate immigrants.
Unfortunately, although Reds may have more kids than Blues, the Blues and their Culture of Death do a really good job of stealing the children of Reds away from them. This process sometimes goes by the names “public education system”, “college” and “television”.

  3. Why do you think that home-schooling, and sex education at school (or Girl Scouts!) can cause such an uproar?
Ellen Goodman, discussing this, says of 1920’s fears of immigrant vs. native child-rates, “those college-educated women found other ways of spreading the word and leaving a legacy.” In other words, you can do the dirty work of having and raising the children, and they can take over.
(None of mine own, alas. ):

  4. I *hope* (as the mom of 3 very young kids and not done yet) that the liberal’s ability to indoctrinate the youth in the past was a result of the poor catechesis that many in my generation received. I hope that a young adult, properly educated in her faith, would have some resistance to that mind set. If not…can I homeschool at the college level? 😉
