Doctor-Who-Flatline-TARDIS

NOTE: I’ve gotten a bit behind in posting podcast episodes, so I’m going to try to catch up by posting a number of my appearances on other shows over a fairly short period. I’m also looking to resume completely new podcasts in the near future.

In this podcast episode of Secrets of Doctor Who, we review and analyse episode 9 of season 8, entitled ‘Flatline’ and highlight all the themes, inside jokes and easter eggs.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. I can understand why Doctor Who is fun to watch (I have watched it myself over the years) but if we are going to get into time travel, why not discuss the phenomenon of “time slips” where people seemingly go back in time for a few minutes or hours then return to the present. Why does this happen? I don’t think it is something God would do without announcing it to the person beforehand. You might also discuss the legend of the ‘seven sleepers’ of early christianity who entered a cave and slept for a few centuries before awaking, thus demonstrating the reality behind the resurrection.

  2. Dear Jimmy,

My son introduced me to this great show: Doctor Who!

Thank you for the information too.:)

    Blessings.
    Jennifer
