Julian's a little mountain town that reminds me of where I grew up in the Ozarks. It even gets snow, despite being in Southern California. The still above is what it looked like when I got here yesterday morning.
And here's a short video I did:

Actually, that does look like you got some snow.
A little.
Look up my Catholic buddy Steve. He lives just outside of town. The local parish knows him and Anna Marie quite well.
Cool. Have you been dodging mudslides?
Were you wearing a Green Lantern shirt in the video?
That is so cool. I really mean that.
This reminds me of Frazier Park just north of Los Angeles in the Tejon Pass on the Grapevine, though Frazier Park stays buried in snow all winter. As a native borne Angelino, I believe coastal Southern California may be the only place you can play in the snow during the day and hit the beach at night for a brisk swim without the risk of frostbite. I wonder if the fire rings are still there at Isadore B. Dockweiler beach just west of LAX.
I’m in exile in Boston, where they think 6,000 feet is a tall mountain.
Obviously fauxtography because Jimmy’s boot was not in the picture!
No, but my *shirt* is!
And it is, indeed, a Green Lantern shirt.
Jimmy,
Did you go to Mass at the little church in Julian? I did in 2003, when I was staying in Oceanside on vacation. I took a day trip up to Julian on what happened to be the First Friday of May. (I frequently go to First Friday Mass, usually with my friends in the Catholic Alumni Club of Pittsburgh, though I’ve never managed to achieve the 9 consecutive First Fridays.)
