Deal to End Writers’ Strike Near?

POSSIBLE GOOD NEWS FOR FANS OF TV SHOWS AND MOVIE PROJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN PUT ON HOLD OF LATE.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Given the cultural rot and anti-Catholic smears that so many of the Hollywood writers are responsible for in the last quarter century, they can stay on strike as long as they like. The longer the better.

  2. I am with WT. I thought the strike was a blessing…even more if the TV and movie industries collapse completely.

  3. There are good people in the business. They are being adversely effected by the strike. Also, while ethical writers strike, those who produce porn, etc, continue to send crud out into to world.

  4. I’ve been loving this writer’s strike for 2 reasons:
    1) I’ve been able to catch up on BSG as well as other series on DVD that I didn’t get to watch on their first pass.
    2) I’ve been watching a whole lot more Discovery and History channel programs – some of the best shows on TV right now, and they’re educational to boot!
Stay on strike – see if I care! We don’t need any more episodes of “What About Jim” or “The George Lopez Show” anyway!

  5. Jimmy,
It looks like it’s just you and me not liking the strike!
Only mackeral snappers can swim against the tide 😉

  6. …Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
(thanx to a fellow comboxer for the idea.)
