EXCERPTS:
A third television series in the hit Stargate franchise is now in development, GateWorld has learned.
A production source informs GateWorld that the new series is in the concept phase, and is being actively worked on by the Vancouver creatives behind Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. No concept for the show has yet been revealed.
The third TV series is also not likely to be rushed into production for a 2007 premiere in order to replace SG-1, which takes its final bow with 10 new episodes this spring. Instead, a premiere in 2008 or later is more likely at this point.
Meanwhile, SG-1 will continue with two movies, presumably direct-to-DVD, currently aiming for a fall 2007 release.

AND HERE. (THIS ONE IS ALSO SPOILER-LITE.)
SG-1 is finishing in the spring? Alas, I have no cable. I will have to wait until the last season comes out on DVD. I must say that Season 9 was slightly cheesy in dialogue and I miss O’Neill and Jake Carter more than ever.
Season 10 really improved over 9 so far. I also heard that they are talking to Michael Shanks about having this new Stargate star Daniel Jackson. Although, already being in another galaxy (or two), I can’t imagine where they could go.

I’m glad somebody said it!
It’s getting all too redundant, really.
I’ve never seen Stargate. BUt that photo looks suspiciously like The Time Tunnel.
Looks like an aerial view of a hot tub, too.

John:
Don’t even go there! ;^)
I still remember that show and, at one time or another, while a kid, used to watch the re-runs.
But, really, I agree, it does!
Or the portal on “Star Trek: The City on the Edge of Forever”.
bill912:
That’s right!
And, incidentally, did anybody realize that there were actually episodes in both the Star Trek series (or, I should say, its derivatives) as well as in SG-1 that mirrored the other.
For example, anyone remember an episode in Star Trek: The Next Generation as well as the one in SG-1 where they borrowed a theme from the movie Groundhog Day and re-lived the same events over and over?
Yeah, those were almost as bad as when they did it on Medium. Maybe that’s just me, though. Actually, I liked them all, but I haven’t seen Groundhog Day.
Maybe it’ll feature the Furlings’ homeworld, to make up for their complete absence from SG-1 (except for a noncanonical cameo in episode 200).
As long as the film (or the spinoff) has O’Neill and Jake for more than five minutes, and maybe shows someone walking into a stargate from the wrong side, I’ll be happy.
It have the scoop on this one! It will be called
Stargate: Home Gardening!!
No, no, that’s all wrong!!! It’s Survivor: Stargate.

Ditto, Ed. But, as mentioned, I’m curious as to how different it will be from the ones that are on now.

There’s an idea! ;^)
Stargate huh? Meanwhile, Jack Bower is saving the world again…in one day.

Kris,
I don’t get that as well, but people seem to LOVE that show for some reason.
Esau,
To be honest…i’m completely addicted. Every episode leaves me hoping there is a couple of Jack Bowers working for us out there.
Kris,
Don’t get me wrong. I really didn’t see the show before until I caught a few episodes the last season. But, with all the hype behind this Sunday’s 2-hour premiere event, I’ll probably end up seeing it.
I’m curious as to how different it will be from the ones that are on now.
Well, they could do a comedic sendup of the whole series, staring Owen Wilson and Jessica Simpson.
Yes, it took me this long to think of that.

Tell me about it, Ed!
Aside from the horrible reality shows popular for some odd reason these days and the obnoxious comedic remakes of some shows (e.g., Starsky & Hutch???), what else can there be???
