A Special Thanks

I’m back in town now and just wanted to say a special thanks to all who supported JimmyAkin.Org in this year’s Catholic Blog Awards. The results are now official,

AND HERE THEY ARE.

JimmyAkin.Org won the following categories:

  • Most Informative Blog
  • Best Blog By A Man
  • Best Apologetics Blog

Wow! I was very surprised to win the first two of those categories, and it is a real honor. I know there were difficulties this year, ones which I’m sure can be fixed in the future, and I just wanted to say a special thanks, both those those who supported JA.O and to those who didn’t (your votes also made the awards meaningful, as giving a sense of the opinion of the Catholic blogosphere!) and to those who hosted the awards.

I also posted a comment responding to some particular posters in the combox and wanted to call attention to it. IT’S HERE.

Congratulations also to all the other winners and nominees! (And be sure to check out SecretAgentMan’s exultation in his own performance this time around.)

So thanks once again, and I hope next year’s awards will be an even bigger success, with even more new bloggers in St. Blog’s and deserving recognition for their efforts.

(NOTE: I’ll post my blog award banners as soon as I get them and can integrate them into my templates. Maybe this weekend if I get them soon enough.)

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. I voted for Jimmy for best apologetics blog. It’s the one apologetics blog on my daily round. The insights I’ve got from Jimmy’s writing (and his associates) have been tremendously helpful to me in my life, and intellectually stimulating too; and Jimmy’s clear and focused style is something William Strunk would be proud of.
I think he more than earned it: justice has been served. Many congratulations!

  2. Congrads-you deserve it, you offer informative info and dont alway push an agenda as others to sell their books and their brand of Catholicism
Being new, I think you have a bright future ahead of you!

  3. Yay! I voted for you in two of the three categories in which you won. Congratulations! Goodness knows you deserve it!

  4. Congrats, Jimmy. Personally, one of the things I love about your blog is the wide range newsworthy, Catholic-relevant topics on which you and your cohorts offer insight. The headlines from your blog are at the top of my Yahoo! home page (well, just under news and e-mail), so it’s one of the first things I see everyday.

  5. Congratulations, Jimmy! It is well deserved. Since I have found your blog, I read it daily. It’s most infomative. Kudos to Michelle and Tim as well.

  6. Jimmy –
    Congratulations!
This makes me feel a little better about my lack of posting activity of late…
I wouldn’t want to give anyone the chance to say that you were riding my coat tails!

  7. I reckon that it was your posts and pictures about mud which took you over the line for the ‘most informative blog’; on what other blog can we find out all we have ever wished to know about mud but ……? LOL

  8. “On what other blog can we find out all we have ever wished to know about mud?” Or one-eyed kittens?
