Mystery photo. Where am (was) I?

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Now Benjamin, that sounds like some wild made up guess. You don’t REALLY know that, do you? 🙂

  2. You can tell by the funny rocks on the left of the picture. People throw coins on them. If you don’t believe me just google Mather Point and look for pictures.
I live about an hour and a half from the Grand Canyon, so I have an advantage.

  3. I suspect the boot is always in the photo for one of two reasons.
    1. Human scale. It is a constant in my line of business that a sense of scale is always included in a drawings or photograph otherwise no one understands the size of anything.
    2. He likes to show off his pointy boots.
I saw a bumpser sticker just today that said, “Pointy ears always make things more fun.” Perhaps it’s also true with pointy shoes as opposes to pointed curved shoes.

  4. You’re at the Grand Canyon, but I only know that because I heard yesterday’s show.
