Vatican Space Program

TOO COOL!

(NOTE: You need to have your speakers turned on for this.)

CHT: Mark Shea.

And note the unintended irony: Not only does it pit Catholicism against Communism, it also makes a pitch for Capitalism.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. My mental image of the Assumption never included rocket flames shooting from Our Lady’s feet…
    But it does now 😀

  2. Rocket Maid,
Launchin’ down the streets of Paradise…
And I think she’s gonna reign a long, long time.

  3. I don’t get it, but then again I didn’t 2001 a space odyssey either. Oh, maybe I’m supposed to not get it! But if I knew that, wouldn’t that technically mean that I got it? This is getting confusing.

  4. There are several novels with a Vatican space program. A Canticle for Liebowitz, Cestus Dei, The Sparrow and Children of God, which will wrench you.
