  • More on "somatic stem cell research."
  • Is the "Lamb of God" song with alternate lyrics (e.g., "Jesus, Bread of Life, you take away the sins of the world . . . ") approved?

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. I’m going to listen to your show for a while,if for no other reason than to get ‘Judge Judy’s’ voice out of my head (I watched her yesterday on digital TV) …wasn’t it enough that you gave us fast food?
    God Bless.

  2. Is the “Lamb of God” song with alternate lyrics (e.g., “Jesus, Bread of Life, you take away the sins of the world . . . “) approved?
No local station carries the show and I can’t find the answer online. Is it approved?

  3. Dave,
Jimmy basically said that there is nothing specifically opposing the alternate lyrics and he noted that the Church is more lenient when it comes to the sung portions of the Mass. Mostly he told the poor soul to not be too bothered by that and to focus energies on other more obviously incorrect liturgical abuses.
Correct me if I’m wrong folks!

  4. You’ve probably found this out by now, but the Pope’s line in the Eucharistic Prayer is “me, your unworthy servant”.
