Neuhaus On New Pope

Fr. Richard John Neuhaus is over yonder in Rome right now reporting on Romish goings on and doing a blog while he’s at it.

HIS LATEST POST CONTAINS SIGNIFICANT SPECULATION ON WHO THE NEW POPE MIGHT BE.

So do his prior entries, so read them, too.

(Cowboy aht tip: Southern Appeal.)

Meanwhile back at the ranch, the rats at the New York Times write

AN EDITORIAL DISGUISED AS A NEWS STORY DEVOTED TO HANDWRINGING OVER THE POSSIBILITY THAT RATZINGER MIGHT BECOME POPE.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. The more I hear speculation on the top five papabili, the more I feel the Cardinals will elect some obscure Cardinal we’ve never heard of.

In recent history, that’s usually been the case. But maybe the cardinals will be unpredictable this time simply by being predictable. Who knows?

  3. Why even speculate? Just be patient, wait, and see – that’s what I’m trying to do.
