Down yonder a kindly reader points out that there’s a problem with the comboxes: They aren’t remembering who folks are, so they have to re-type their name, e-mail addresses, etc.
This is a problem I’ve been having for a while, but . . . I thought it was just me.
I got a new computer recently and I haven’t downloaded Mozilla or Firefox yet, so I’ve been using Internet Explorer and I thought I’d just had a setting wrong or something.
Then the kindly reader mentioned he’s having the same problem and a buncha folks chimed in.
Sooooo . . . I contacted TypePad and asked what the deal was. They wanted to know what browser I and others are using since their techs have spotted the problem and are working to resolve it for IE. They hope to have it fixed soon.
Is anybody encountering the problem who is not using IE?
I’m using Safari on Mac and it has never remembered my personal info. It usually works on other sites, just not yours.
But at least you can read .pdfs. ;-P
(I’ll tell them about Safari, too, so maybe we can get some relief for Safari users 🙂
I’m using IE.
And, for the record, as I mentioned below, when I comment on other typepad blogs, like Amy Welborn’s, I don’t have the problem – my info is remembered.
Using Avant Browser. Remembered it tonight. This is based on the IE engine, so I don’t know if it falls under IE or it’s own category. Pages display properly AND I get tabbed browsing. 🙂
When I post comments from this iMac, everything works fine, but when I post comments from my PC that has a later version of Windows 1998, it won’t remember my information — I have to reenter it every time I come back to your weblog.
I’m on Mozilla/Firefox & I have to re-type my name & e-mail alla the time.
Buy, really, it’s been helping Moochie work on patience. That’s a good thing!
I’m using Firefox 1.0.1 – My info is all there.
Using FireFox, works fine.
Works fine on your site for me, and I’m using Firefox. It never works on Fr. Bryce Sibley’s site…but perhaps he’s using different software.
Using eMac, works fine.
has anyone experienced their monitor not running right after installing ‘combox’?? I have a 18 inch viewsonic ve800 that will not shut down properly….is it a combox fault or a software problem does any one know?
I think you may be referring to something else. When we’re talking about comboxes here, we’re referring to the comments boxes on the blog. There is nothing to install.
