Several people have asked me about good Catholic charities to send money to to help the victims of the tsunami.
I haven’t commented on this publicly because I try to do my best to research what the best, most effective charities are.
While I don’t have all the data I’d like, at present I’m recommending Catholic Relief Services.

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

I friend sent me this. I have not checked it out closely yet but it may be of some help.
YOu know, CRS is who I use for general things like this, too.
The Knight of Columbus are also doing our bit.

They unfortunately don’t have way to contribute online.
I sent my January donation to CRS and made it larger than usual.
However, I did not earmark it. They work on many other worthy projects that save lives.
