N.B. Keep the captions papally-respectful. If there is Integrist pope-sniping, I’ll delete.

Starting captions:

1) Cindy Lou Who thanks John Paul II in the new film How The Pope Saved Christmas.

2) Pontiff Greets Delegation of Converts from the Fifth Dimension (Mxyzptlk Named Archbishop)

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. You didn’t mention Integrist bishop-sniping, so I’ll post a comment that I found on another webpage about the same picture:
“Your Excellency, We are pleased to impart Our Apostolic Blessing on you and the rest of the American bishops.”
    Mean. Unfair. Funny.

  2. “The Diocese of Galcork 4 quadrant C, formerly an Orthodox rite, returned today to full communion with Rome, reinststing their place in the Roman Catholic Church. They were not asked to perform the usual sign of returning to comminion because in their culture, kissing someone’s foot means that you are about to eat them.”

  3. I was going to post (which I don’t usally do on these cuz i think they are so dumb and poeple really shoudl try to get a life), but then i read Jon’s, doubled over laughing, and declined to try to improve upon his perfection. All Hail JON, Caption god!

  4. Then how about this caption:
Ed Peters kisses the ring of Jon and offers the formal salute, “All Hail JON, Caption god!”

  5. Does this mean that if we get Mxyzptlk to say his name backwards he will lose his episcopal status?

  6. Dude,
What’s with this “integrist” business? It’s a nasty, pejorative term for Traditionalists. I saw it for the first time a couple of years ago (perhaps it was coined in the very article I read), and it still sits badly with me. Probably with others too. Why not just say what you mean: “Pope Hater”.
    That said,
“Your Holiness, I’ll never get over the abuse I suffered at the hands of Father Shanley…”

  7. Jimmy will you please delete the previous post.
Some coward posted a pornographically snide comment about our beloved JP2.
There should be some kind of registry to post here so these kinds of things don’t slip by.
    🙁

  8. God has bound all men over to disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
