Freedom Elementary School ain’t that free anymore. Its principal (possibly in collusion with the school board or other unnamed malefactors) has imposed a set of absurd and draconian prohibitions on what will be allowed this winter.
FOX (not The Onion or ScrappleFace) reports:
Freedom Elementary School in East Manatee, Florida, is banning not
only Christmas and religious-themed songs from its winter concert this
year; it’s banning references to winter, altogether. Snowmen and
snowflakes are strictly forbidden.The
schools principal insists, "[We’re] trying to be respectful of
everyone." So, according to the Sarasota Herald Tribune, students are
now planning to sing songs about America and patriotism.
Oh, yeah, like those won’t offend anyone.
wow…You’re right. The only explanation is that he lost his mind.
Next hing you know, here in Colorado, our schools will ban warm weather and sand castles.
Maybe I shold e-mail the school a picture of my kids making a snowman….
Substituting “patriotism” for Christmas? Doesn’t that seem a little scary/overly nationalistic to anybody? Replacing real religion with the cult of the state?
That’s all that’s left, I suppose, when you ban religion.
Well, I find it offensive that Christianity and winter are treated as subjects to be kept behind the counter in brown paper envelopes!
Let him be air-dropped into the Medicine Bow without supplies, and try to deny the existance of winter!
As to the religion thing, that is doubtless why so many Democrats in Florida are needing psychological care – there religion is their Party, and their Annointed was Kerry.
Just another example, although an extreme one, of the “always Winter & never Christmas” mentality.
