Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

I am probably in the minority but . . . I cannot stand that cartoon. I love the rest of Nickelodeon’s fare (except Jimmy Neutron).
I sometimes think I find SpongeBob funnier than my kids. The “Open Window Maniac” episode is a classic. I laugh every time I see it. And with the way that Nickelodeon plays its cartoons, I have seen it about 1000 times ;>)
The above comment was from me, I forgot to put my name in.
The “open-window maniac” episode is actually titled “Hall Monitor.” And it’s my favorite episode too, which says a lot. The “maniac” sequence always makes me laugh. In fact, I liked “the Open-Window Maniac” so much, I named my blog after him! 🙂
“SpongeBob SquarePants” definitely is not just for kids, which partially explains its success. Episodes like “Hall Monitor,” “Dumped” and “Rock-a-Bye Bivalve” are parodies that youngsters can laugh at, but only adults can fully appreciate.
