More Wisdom From Sowell

sowellThomas Sowell writes so many columns that they ought to stop calling the list of them over at townhall.com an “archive” and start calling it a blog.

It’s been a couple of weeks since I checked in on his writing, but I see he’s cranked out several more gems.

Here, Here, and Here.

He is so smart.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. From his bio at towhall: “George F. Will’s writing, says Sowell, proved to him that someone could say something of substance in so short a space (750 words).”
So true. Thomas Sowell is also good at making such excellent points in such a short space. You can really notice that about his columns.

  2. Some time ago I sent Sowell a message asking what religion he is. I mentioned to him that many people I interact with assume that he must be Catholic because he is so intelligent. (I also acknowledged that others would probably assume the same thing with respect to their own faiths.)
Unfortunately, never heard back from him.

  3. Gents,
I am a Thomas Sowell junkie as well. I read his “Inside American Education” in the early nineties during my college days and was literally horrified away from an education major. His “Vision of the Annointed” is a must for understanding (as much as possible) the emotive schlock that passes for discourse in our culture.
