Episode 1.5: The Snakehead Menace

This story about a pond in Maryland that was recently drained after a Chinese snakehead fish was found in it . . .

. . . gives me the opportunity to point to one of my favorite Scrappleface stories of all time.

(Along with another of my favorite Scrappleface stories, and one that isn’t even from Scrappleface. These two don’t have anything to do with snakehead fish. They’re just funny.)

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. This is off topic, but do you have any updates on Secret Project #1? Wanna fill us in a bit or feel like leavin’ us in the dark? =)

  2. I’d like to talk more about Secret Project #1, but the same thing holds me up that typically holds JMS up in announcing his projects: all the right people need to sign off on it and give the big go ahead before it can really be talked about in detail in public.
That being said, I did recently drop a BIG clue about what Secret Project #1 might have to do with when I mentioned it in a recent post in the “Work” category, though nobody seemed to pick up on the significance of the clue, at least from what I could judge from the comments box.
My immediate next step regarding Secret Project #1, which I’m planning to do tonight, is to review a proposal that needs to be sent to one of Catholic Answers’ partners in making Secret Project #1 happen. So there’s another clue.
Also in that proposal are sections dealing with two other projects which will also be big, though one doesn’t deal with me, so I won’t talk about it. The other, however, does concern me, so I s’ppose we could call it Secret Project #3.
Secret Project #3 isn’t nearly so massive in scope as Secret Project #1, and it is likely to happen a bit further down the road (1-2 years). Secret Project #1, however, I hope will start yielding tangible results by the end of this calendar year, so within the next six months or so.
I should be able to talk about it considerably before then, but for now, have fun guessing! 🙂
