    The first part of your answer is absolutely correct in that Christ is not caused any further suffering in the Mass.

    However, the second part was a bit unclear. The quote that you reference from Pope Paul the VI about the Eucharist being the resurrected flesh of Christ is true, but the Eucharist is the result of the sacrifice and not the sacrifice itself. A subtle point, but I think that while Pope Paul’s quote is true, it does not in anyway preclude the “time warp” speculation where people believe that the Mass somehow “re-presents” the sacrifice of Calvary.

    One of your answers really confused me. Perhaps I misunderstood your answer. If the mass is a representation of the one sacrifice of Christ (Catechism 1330-1331), I’m not sure I understand your answer that we are not witnessing calvary in an unbloody manner? It seems like a “time warp” type of experience, in a sense, meaning Christ is not sacrificed again, yet it is also true that this is also the risen Christ. If we are not experiencing the one sacrifice of Christ at mass, represented for us, (in an anamnesis, sort of making the past into a present reality), then how is the mass a sacrifice, and how is Christ not re-sacrificed?

  3. Jimmy, I would third the above. I really want to know. This is a big area of contention with separated brethren, and it would be very good to put to an end misconceptions.
