Happy Birthday, Jack Chick!

JackchickI’d completely forgotten, but today is Jack Chick’s birthday!

Yee-Haw!!! Happy Birthday, Jack!!!

Yes, Jack Chick was born April 13, 1924, so he’s 81 years old today. (And it’s not just Wikipedia that says so; I checked some research I did on him, online here.)

Interestingly, Wikipedia’s article on him is heavily dependent on things I’ve written about Chick (I guess there aren’t that many Chick researchers out there), though it doesn’t realize the extent to which it is since a major piece it links (which it calls "Expose on Jack Chick") didn’t carry my byline.

It also has my drawing of Chick. (Will have to think about whether I want to let Wikipedia use that as I am the copyright holder. Probably don’t mind if they put in my copyright notice and say "used by permission.")

Anyway, happy birthday to the world’s cheesiest anti-Catholic!

Many happy returns, Jack!

(Cowboy hat tip to the reader woh e-mailed.)

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. The good thing about wikipedia is you can go there and do it yourself. Being a wiki, it’s freely editable by anyone.
I have an account already and have done some a few articles and a little editing (it’s good practice), so I’d be glad to go there and fix that stuff, if you’d like.

  2. I haven’t heard anything from Jack about the pope’s passing. I would think he’d have a good, thorough gloat over it; at his age, it may be the last chance he gets. Has anybody else heard anything?

  3. Also, Jimmy, if you click on the picture of Jack in the article, it takes you to a page that shows the picture and underneath it says Copyright 2004 Jimmy Akin.
So at least they did something.

  4. I read your story about when you two met. Frankly, I was considering more lightning and thunder. Still, he thought you were a Jesuit agent and accused you of “approaching” him. That was cool.
We could bake him a cake but we know he would not eat it for fear of being poisoned. You know, with those IRA poisons…

  5. Ah Ha! Jimmy knew it was his birthday! Clearly Jimmy has access to the secret Vatican database of Protestants! There’s no other explanation!
Coming Soon from Jack Chick Publications: “Jimmy Akin – Jesuit Inquisitor From Hell”
I look forward to seeing how the cowboy hat is drawn. Should look cool with little horns sticking up through it…

  6. Good ole Jack Chick! I used to give his tracts out years before God began calling me to the Catholic Church.

  7. Do you gentle readers or whatever have any ugly filthy smelly boots you need cleaned and polished? That’s what I have learned from reading Chick comics. To clean them up and return them to you sparkling and like new.

  8. Jack Chick’s ‘impossible to resist’ publications are banned in Canada. That is the ultimate backhanded compliment.

  9. What did you do Jimmy boy?Set up this site soley to attempt to discredit Jacky?I wouldn’t put it past you AND THE CATHOLIC CHURCH to do something like that.Jack’s message overall is bedrock solid. It’s chess not checkers, hey,Jimmy? Most people are blind to that.

  10. Are you saying the Vatican does not have the ability to pull up your personal information regarding basically just about everything about you?Even a garden variety Freemason can accomplish that from their personal study in their own private domecile.

  11. Define “cheesy”.Do you think for yourself?I’m the one who is mocking your guidelines.

  12. I would not eat a meal offered to me by a Jesuit, considering what I have written on the net. 🙂

  13. The people who react the most vociferously to Jacky are the ones who are hit the hardest by those neat little tracts.Where has Jack written about the IRA?I have not seen anything like that anywhere.Check out Dean’s World. It seems like Dean is homosexual limpwrist jesuit working for the Catholic church and attempting to do what our friend Jimmy is doing here. That’s just a guess on my part, but probably not too far from the truth.Chess not checkers.

  14. All those R.C. officials in one mammoth group placing the next cobra(pope) in the chair. How can this be?Do they actually buy into it all?I forget the movie;I’m sure it was Pacino who said it:A priest tells another priest or whatever that he has lost his faith. The other priest tells him…”FAKE IT”.It is their bread and butter. It is their only source of income. What else are these mostly unskilled,untrained,unprepared-for-the-real-world pope pawns going to do for,uh,money?!That’s why they are hopping mad at Jack. That’s part of it.

  15. I’m waiting for the Catholic empire to conjure up a couple of miracles to cannonize the one who fell out of his chair or whatever.

  16. I remember when I was a little kid, and one of our neighbors was a fundamentalist whatever. This was an older man and he made it very obvious that he didn’t like us because we were Catholic. I remember him telling us we were going to hell. Why would someone tell a 7 year old that they are going to hell? Chick tracts remind me a lot of that guy. I was born Catholic and I will die a Catholic. There is no other religion as beutifull as ours. And if people don’t like it, fine. I don’t care. Because my relationship with God is between me and him.
Nice blog Mr. Akin. God bless.

  17. David,on the surface,of course. That’s the game.A lot of deceived people in the RC church.I myself had a terrible problem knowing if your church was legit, because it seemed to be from appearances!Massive expensive elaborate buildings.Pry off the lid.I found worms, thanks to Jack Chick!

  18. Dear Disclosure
I know perfectly well that there are a lot of wicked people in the Cathlic Church. I’ve seen them, I’ve read about them. Why should it be a shock to anyone that there are some people in a church who call themselves “followers of Christ” but are rotten to the core? That has been going on since time began. I am a follower of the catholic faith. The Catholic Faith, I find it closer to the teachings of the Bible and Christ, than any protestant church I’ve been to. And yes, I’ve been to my far share of Protestant churches. I generally have no problem with people of other faiths, but there is no way I would become a protestant. For one, There is no Eucharist. The Bible clearly demonstrates that it IS the body of Christ. “How can this man (Christ)give us his flesh to eat?” “Take and eat, this is my body.” -Jesus. Jack Chicks version of the Catholic Church is such a parody of historical truths, it is amazing that anyone would listen to him. Do you really believe the things Jack says? Jesuit Agents, Super Computers, Babylon religion? There is a funny thing about paranoia. Its a game you can play by yourself, with your friends, and for your whole life.

  19. Jack Chick,Bob Larson,Billy Graham…three people who have made a permanent impression on my mind because of the seriousness and focus of the message.A Bible study youth leader whom I know, prayed over a dead body and the body came back to life. This was a drowning in Banff Alberta(hot springs). The body was a lot more than three minutes dead,BUT the pastor was VERY serious about even seemingly the simple insignificant aspects of his own personal behaviour(morality and such).Jack Chick and these other Christians are not people who need to be made into an infallible beings who are adding books to the Bible, but yes, their messages are essentially dead on correct.

  20. The Roman Catholic Eucharist is very blasphemous. You need to study and compare background on that.I think there are born again believers in the RC church, but the church is very complex and hard to understand. If they(and yourself)knew exactly what the RC doctrine is,you would leave the church(if you are truly born again),which is,I’m assuming, your desire.Jesuit covert activity is real. Please research this on your own for the best results.I saw what the RC church did to discredit Alberto. They pulled a loose facsimile character(a different individual, but actual and living)out of a different context, and created a real dust storm, which would make it close to impossible for somebody like yourself to discern the real truth, unless you knew the full previous story of the real Alberto.

  21. My great grandfather was a Freemason. He left that secret society. He was murdered and we believe it was related to him leaving the Masons. This is something that happened in a seemingly desolate prairie region. These secret activities are taking place. It is totally real. There was no person brought to justice for the murder.

  22. The Roman Catholic Eucharist is very blasphemous.
“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eats y flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.”
Whereupon ‘Then many of his disciples who were listening said, “This saying is hard; who can accept it?;”; which led to “As a result of this, many (of) his disciples returned to their former way of life and no longer accompanied him.”

  23. .If they(and yourself)knew exactly what the RC doctrine is,you would leave the church
Why on earth would the Catholic Church hide its own doctrine from its own members?
Remember this: those for whom it is the doctrine believe it. Why would they be ashamed to spread it?

  24. Mary,All I ask is that you carefully and thoroughly study all aspects of what you are doing sacrament-wise.Compare what you are doing in the Catholic Church to a KJV perspective.I can’t make you believe what you won’t,but if you are wondering what is right, which you seem to be,that is a very positive indicator.

  25. Mary, you have to research Jesuit activity and decide yourself. You tell me why that stuff is going on.
