Thanks, the Inter Cetera bull was very important from an a historical point of view. Alexander VI was infallible how all the successors of Peter ,but not was a Great Pope for many reasons, fortunately his successors Julius II condemned the simony with the Papal Bull Cum Tao Divino on 19 February 1505.
Actually, a little over a 100 hundred years later, 1608-09 the first English Settlement in Jamestowne, VA had no rightful claim upon the land that they settled upon. The Virginia Land Company had a charter granted them from King James I but the rest of Catholic Europe considered this region as already claimed and owned by the Spanish Crown. Jamestowne was located up river, along the James River to mask it’s presence from the Chesapeake Bay and discovery by any Spanish flotillas that might have passed into this aea of Greater Florida. Virginia was the English name for this region, in memory of Queen Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen.
