Thank God they didn’t pick Schonborn.
It was a great day for the Church!
I was out shopping, and my mom phoned to tell me 🙂
I was on my knees praying in front of the TV as the announcement came. I remember praying for Cardinal Arinze and thinking that Cardinal Ratzinger wasn’t going to happen because that would just be too much to hope for. When the name Ratzinger was mentioned I cheered from my bones, if that makes sense! What a great pope he has been. He was the perfect pope to follow JP the great!
I was watching it streamed to my computer (if I remember correctly I had both a CNN and EWTN feeds going simultaneously) at work. Once I saw the announcement I was so overjoyed I told my boss I was outta-there to go celebrate. I think he was a bit surprised because I’m not the sort to blow off work, but he didn’t say anything because he could tell how excited I was.
