I just finished listening to you on CAL. I missed the beginning, where I’m sure you talked about Star Trek 🙁 I almost called in, but I wasn’t sure that they would have announced me as The Masked Chicken from somewhere in Chickenville 🙂 Do they accept pseudonyms?
In any case, as someone who was around when computer movie animation got started (on a PDP-11), I suspect that part of Pixar’s success is that they simply really, really like what they are doing. Everything they do pushes the envelope because they allow movie animation is evolve along with computer technology, but only as a means to an end. Their end is making fun movies. They are doing, in a way, what Disney did in the 1960’s – make movies that they would want to take their families to see. Although Walt Disney had his faults, he was uncompromising in his moral vision, within a film. Disney went downhill after Walt Disney died and the company spun off into other areas. Hopefully, Pixar can keep that singular vision for years to come.
Oh, rats – that’s what I could have said on CAL 🙁
The Chicken
I’m quite certain DreamWorks is doing the same thing. They just want to take their families to different movies. 😐
Dear SDG,
Okay, try this:

The Chicken
SDG and everyone,
Thought you might like to know, The Miracle Maker is available to watch for free on Lionsgate’s official YouTube channel. Fair warning though – it has advertising breaks (like Hulu).
Shouldn’t it be P.P.S.?
I knowed that.
Perils of multitasking…
Up was a great movie
