While surfing the Internet, I stumbled across a great quote, which seems to say so much more than it’s speaker originally intended. Every so often, as I find more quotes that seem almost prophetic in nature, I’ll share them here.
"Ours is a world of nuclear giants and ethical infants. We know more about war than we know about peace, more about killing than we know about living." –Omar N. Bradley
Who was Omar N. Bradley?
Bradley was a contemporary of that other five-star general and man of peace, George Marshall, architect of the reconstruction of Europe and Japan.
Great quote, and sadly, true.
As a people, one could argue that we handle war much better than we handle peace.
It’s not Omar Bradley, but Karl Malden in disguise!
Right. The guy who played Karl Malden in real life and was named after the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
Gen. Bradley was from Missouri. That explains it all.
He was known as the “G.I.’s General” for the gentle manner in which he treated subordinates, including enlisted personnel.
Omar Bradley was the last surviving 5-star general that we had. When he passed away, there were no more.
