QUIZ! How Ready Are *YOU* for the New Translation of the Mass?

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. 90% I missed question #9 because I recalled the past mention of the Apostle’s Creed being recommended for children’s masses.
Good enough for the certificate but unsatisfactory in terms of thinking I knew enough.

  2. 9 out of 10, for the same reason as Arnobius. I never knew that the Apostle’s Creed was associated with Advent and Lent.

  3. I got 80% (all right but the last two). It helps that I’m old enough to remember the pre-Vatican II Latin Mass – the translation in my missal looked an awful lot like the “new” version we have to learn.
Funny thing about the “Collect.” Back at St. Aidan’s (Williston Park, New York) the “Collect” always came up just about the time the collection baskets were being passed – so it was pretty hard not to associate the two 😉

  4. Greetings,
I was disappointed to get an 80%. Couldn’t remember what the Collect was (I will now!) and didn’t know the conditions for when the Ap. Creed is to be used.
Ah well, “it’s the Mass… you get credit for trying”
