Two Films This Weekend

There’s a couple of interesting films in theaters right now (for my money, at least). SDG has reviews of both of them. If you’re looking for a movie to go to this weekend, you might check out

SERENITY

or

WALLACE & GROMIT: CURSE OF THE WERE-RABBIT

Be sure to check out Steve’s reviews of them.

Author: Jimmy Akin

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. I love Wallace and Gromit!!! “Comic menace and excitement,” the note at the bottom of the review says it all — penguin villains dressed as chickens, heroic sheep, a dog who reads “Popular Mechanics for Dogs,” and cheeeeese. Can’t wait.

  2. Serenity is a great apologist’s movie because the whole thing seems to me to be about conversions.
    And shootin’!
(which has less to do with conversions.)

  3. YES!
Serenity rocks … oh and there is some conversion going on too … but mostly it rocks!
And who wouldn’t love Wallace and Grommit? That’s on the schedule for us this weekend since we’ve worn out our tapes of the shorts.

  4. Serenity’s a great movie. Highly recommended. I’m glad my brother dragged me to see it, since I was skeptical after seeing the trailer.

  5. Has anybody seen the Nick Parks short where the lady goes to hell but she has to come back because she forgot her purse? DH took the kids to the Wallace and Gromit movie andd they loved it.

  6. Yeah, the early Nick Park shorts are . . . odd. He’s best when he sticks to chickens & W&G. Can’t wait to see this movie!
