I don't watch political conventions . . .

. . . for the same reason that the press doesn’t cover them that much. In the words of Neil Cavuto,

They wonder why no one covers these conventions. It’s not because they’re pre-scripted. It’s because the script they have is so d*** dull!

There, I said it. [Source]

Well, every so often there’s an unscripted moment. [Language warning!]

Jimmy was born in Texas, grew up nominally Protestant, but at age 20 experienced a profound conversion to Christ. Planning on becoming a Protestant seminary professor, he started an intensive study of the Bible. But the more he immersed himself in Scripture the more he found to support the Catholic faith, and in 1992 he entered the Catholic Church. His conversion story, "A Triumph and a Tragedy," is published in Surprised by Truth. Besides being an author, Jimmy is the Senior Apologist at Catholic Answers, a contributing editor to Catholic Answers Magazine, and a weekly guest on "Catholic Answers Live."

  1. Even when the press is there, it doesn’t cover them. I saw only a little of the convention and even on MSNBC they had commentary when people were giving speeches. (Except, for some reason, when they had “Rev.” Al on.)

  2. So I guess you didn’t see the part in Catholic Wonderboyâ„¢’s speech where he compared the cure-all-wonders of fetal stem cell research to the march of human progress at Kitty Hawk, and pledged bags full of federal taxpayer money to destroy human embryos (even though he’s “personally” against stuff like that because he has a “deep personal faith”) unlike that other guy who “doesn’t believe in science”. At least that’s what I think he said when I was watching it…it was hard to hear him, what with the deafening roar of applause and orgy of celebration that the line got out of the “profoundly moderate” crowd.

You must have also missed the part when a priest of our Lord’s One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, the bride of Christ, made it clear to the millions of viewers around the country and the world that it’s okay to be Catholic and “pro-choice” by blessing this convention of the party that “stands proudly for a woman’s right to choose, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of her ability to pay … and stands firmly against [that other party’s] efforts to undermine that right.”

You missed out on all the fun Jimmy!
